Psychotherapist Gabrielle Cyr, LSW
Hi! I'm Gabrielle, and I work with individuals and couples, from teenagers to adults, on issues of depression and anxiety, as well as explorations of relationship issues. I also have experience working with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. I have a Master's in Social Work from Fordham University and am a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey as well as a Licensed Master of Social Work in New York.
My treatment style is warm, humorous, and empathic. I believe every human has the capacity for joy, but it might be hidden under issues that have arisen. Together, we can explore those issues and free you to experience your true self again.
I work from an insight-oriented, integrational, and eclectic perspective, and believe that healing must address the whole person. You have your own inherent wisdom, and I provide a non-judgmental and safe space to foster access to that wisdom. There is a balance between the desire for change and the goal of self-acceptance. I can help you see the patterns you are repeating while at the same time offering unconditional positive regard for where you are right now.
As a yoga practitioner, mindfulness is one of the skills I bring to the therapy session. I am also an avid believer in the healing power of nature. Our increasing use of technology has left many of us feeling disconnected, depressed, and anxious. While technology is an important tool, it comes with a downside. Nature reminds us of the best parts of ourselves.
Outside of private practice, I enjoy traveling, hiking, water sports, reading, knitting, and cats.
