Psychotherapist Azalea Howard, LCSW

I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) who is well experienced in working with children, teens, families, elders, and their caregivers for 10 + years. I graduated from Rutgers, The State University of NJ, with my Master’s Degree in Social Work, with high honors over 10 years ago. I also have an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology. I am grateful that I have had the privilege to have worked in multiple capacities from Residential Group Homes for children, teens, and young adults to working with toddlers and parents in Preschools and Head Start. Prior to happily joining Mind Your Mind NJ, I spent the past 8 years working at a Managed Care Organization (MCO) in Healthcare, where I also provided emotional support while assisting elders and their adult caregivers with navigating through the complex healthcare system. During my time at the MCO, I strongly advocated for elders, caregivers, and providers to ensure quality care, follow-up, and treatment. I am well-versed in assisting residents of Nursing Homes and Assisted Living facilities who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, and family conflicts. Further, I served as a Case Manager, where I also assisted elders and their caregivers with finding necessary resources, services, durable medical equipment (DME), and support internally and externally. I am passionate about helping each individual, from toddlers to elders of diverse races, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds, achieve their highest quality of life and find happiness within. I believe in strengths-based, solution-focused, and cognitive-behavioral therapeutic strategies to help anyone struggling with life challenges. I know that in order for anyone to succeed in overcoming challenges, they must establish their own goals for treatment while I am there to provide the mental, behavioral, and emotional support and recommendations necessary for you to accomplish your goals and be your best self. While I know there are a lot of stigmas surrounding receiving Behavioral Health Treatment, you should know that we all may need help sometimes. I truly look forward to serving as your Counselor. I wish blessings, peace, and happiness to you.
